PDF Templates

Create custom PDF templates for BOQ export.

Overview

PDF templates enable individual Bills of Quantities:

• Custom company logo
• Customized layout
• Specific column arrangement
• Cover page design

Creating a Template

The template wizard guides you through the creation process:

Step 1: Upload PDF

1. Click on "New PDF Template"
2. Upload an existing BOQ PDF
3. The system analyzes the structure

Step 2: Detect Cover Page

The system automatically detects:

• Header area with logo
• Project information
• Date and editor

Adjust the detection if needed.

Step 3: Configure Table

Define the columns of the position table:

Column	Description
Item No.	Item number
Short text	Position description
Quantity	Amount
Unit	Unit of measurement
UP	Unit price
TP	Total price

Step 4: Header

Configure recurring headers:

• Page numbering
• Project name
• Date

Step 5: Save

1. Enter a name
2. Select a category
3. Click "Save"

Using a Template

When exporting PDF in the Costing Drawer:

1. Click on "Export"
2. Select "PDF" as format
3. Click on the database icon next to the PDF radio button
4. A menu opens with:
   • Standard (Fallback) - The built-in default template
   • Your own PDF templates (if available)
5. Select a template from the list
6. The icon turns blue when a template is selected
7. Configure the other export options
8. Click "Export PDF"

No database icon?

The database icon only appears when:

• PDF is selected as format
• At least one custom PDF template exists

Default template

If no template is selected, the system uses the built-in default template as fallback.

Managing Templates

Editing

1. Open "PDF Templates" in the Admin section
2. Click on a template
3. Make changes
4. Save

Deleting

1. Right-click on the template
2. Select "Delete"
3. Confirm

Default Template

BIM AVA includes a default template:

• Professional German layout
• GAEB-compliant structure
• Can serve as a basis for custom templates

Tips

Example PDF

Use a well-formatted existing BOQ as a basis - the system recognizes the structure better.

Column widths

Ensure adequate column widths for long position texts.
