Account Settings

Manage your user account, password, and language settings.

Open Settings

1. Click your Avatar (with initials) in the top right corner
2. Select "Account Settings"
3. The settings dialog opens

Display Name

Your display name appears:

• As avatar initials in the interface
• In annotations (as creator)
• In the presence display (live collaboration)
• In audit logs (for admins)

To change the display name:

1. Edit the "Display Name" field
2. Enter your desired name (e.g., "John Doe", "J. Smith")
3. Click "Save"

Initials

The avatar initials are automatically generated from the first letters of your display name (e.g., "John Doe" → "JD").

Username

The username is your login identifier and must be unique.

To change the username:

1. Edit the "Username" field
2. Enter a new username
3. Click "Save"

Important

After changing your username, you must log in with the new username.

Email Address

The email address is optional and is currently not used for notifications.

To change the email:

1. Edit the "Email" field
2. Enter a valid email address or leave the field empty
3. Click "Save"

Change Password

Change your password for security reasons or if you've forgotten it (with admin help).

Change Password

1. Open Account Settings
2. Enter your current password
3. Enter a new password (at least 4 characters)
4. Click "Save"

Show Password

Click the eye icon next to the password field to make your password visible.

Minimum Length

Passwords must be at least 4 characters long. For higher security, we recommend longer passwords with numbers and special characters.

Forgot Password

If you've forgotten your password:

1. Contact an administrator
2. The administrator can reset your password in the Admin Panel
3. You will receive a new temporary password
4. Change it after logging in via account settings

Language

Choose the user interface language.

Available Languages

• Deutsch - Fully translated
• English - Fully translated

To change the language:

1. Open Account Settings
2. Click on the desired language in the "Language" section
3. The interface switches immediately to the selected language
4. Click "Save" to save the change permanently

Instant Change

The language change is applied immediately - you don't need to log in again.

Light/Dark Theme

Switch between light and dark color scheme.

Switch Theme

Click on the theme icon in the top bar:

• Light mode - Light interface with white background
• Dark mode - Dark interface with black background

Effects

The theme switch affects:

• Entire user interface - Menus, panels, dialogs
• 3D viewer background - Adapts automatically (light or dark)
• Text and icons - Optimized contrast for better readability

Automatic Sync

The chosen theme is automatically saved and synchronized across all devices where you're logged in.

Viewer Background

The 3D viewer background automatically adapts to the chosen theme. You can additionally fine-tune brightness with the lighting settings.

Save Settings

After making changes:

1. Click "Save" at the bottom of the dialog
2. A success message appears
3. Your changes are applied immediately

Multiple Changes

You can change all fields at once and then click "Save" once.

Error Handling

Username Already Taken

If the chosen username already exists, an error message appears:

Solution: Choose a different username (e.g., with a number: "jsmith2")

Wrong Current Password

If the entered current password is incorrect:

Solution:

• Check the spelling
• Use the eye icon to spot typos
• If forgotten, contact an administrator

Password Too Short

New passwords must be at least 4 characters long:

Security Tips

Secure Passwords

• Use at least 8 characters
• Combine uppercase/lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters
• Don't use a password you use for other services
• Change your password regularly

Logout

When working on a public computer, log out after your work:

• Click on your avatar
• Select "Logout"
