Dashboard & Workspace

The Dashboard is the central workspace of BIM AVA. Here you manage projects, load models, and work with the 3D/2D viewer.

Layout

The Dashboard consists of four main areas:

Project Browser (Sidebar)

The left sidebar shows all your projects and their contents.

Project List

  • Pinned projects appear at the top with a pin icon
  • Projects show model count and status icons
  • Search field at the top filters projects in real time
  • Esc resets the search

Project Context Menu

Right-click on a project to open the context menu:

Folder Organization

Projects can be organized in folders:

  • Folders are expandable/collapsible
  • Models can be moved between folders via drag & drop
  • Right-click → "New Folder" to create

Models

Below each project you see its models:

  • Checkbox - Load/unload model in the viewer
  • Status icon shows conversion status:

CAD/GIS Layers

In 2D mode, additional CAD and GIS layers are shown:

  • DXF/DWG files as 2D layers
  • GIS layers (GeoJSON, WFS)
  • Each layer has a checkbox for visibility control

Top Bar

The top bar shows information and tools for the active project.

Project Information

  • Project name - Name of the currently open project
  • Presence indicator - Shows connected users (via WebSocket)

Selection

  • Element chip - Shows the currently selected BIM element with name and type

Tools

Viewer Area

The central area displays the 3D or 2D viewer.

3D/2D Switch

A floating, draggable button allows switching between:

  • 3D Mode - xeokit-based BIM viewer
  • 2D Mode - Paper.js-based CAD viewer

Mode Persistence

The selected mode is saved per project.

3D Viewer

Full BIM viewer with:

  • Orbit/pan/zoom navigation
  • Explorer panel, properties panel
  • Section planes, measurements, annotations
  • Collision detection, model comparison

2D Viewer

CAD viewer with:

  • DXF/DWG layers
  • Labeling, measurements
  • 2D collision detection
  • GIS integration

Costing Drawer (Right Sidebar)

The right sidebar contains the GAEB cost estimation tool.

  • Resizable - Drag the left edge to resize
  • Fullscreen - Double-click the header or use the fullscreen button
  • Show/Hide - Via button in the top bar

Users and Admins Only

Users with the Viewer role do not see the costing drawer.

File Drop Zone

Drag files directly into the Dashboard window:

Supported File Types

GAEB Routing

When dropping a GAEB file, a dialog opens with three options:

  1. Import to Project - Add positions to the current project
  2. Create as Master BOQ - Create a new master template
  3. Import to Price Archive - Add prices to the price archive

Smart Detection

The system automatically detects the file type and offers the appropriate import options.
